This month I invite you to explore a core aspect we all carry – the dreamer. We all have this creative and playful aspect within us, starting from when we are children. It is the part of us that gets to dream, to vision, to create. This is the part of our souls which embraces play, spontaneity and exploration.

So many of us tend to disconnect from this part of ourselves in the process of growing up, taking on responsibilities we didn’t expect, and to become who we think we should be as adults.

The sad part is that we stifle a part of our true selves when we ignore the voice of the dreamer. So, how can we start awakening the dreamer within us all? The dreamer part of the soul loves to explore, play and engage with nature. Remember that the dreamer archetype already lives within you, all you are doing is listening more closely to what the dreamer has to say in your soul!

Here are a few ideas to help activate or honor the dreamer within!

  • The next time you are out for a walk, take a moment to soak in the joy and pleasure of being outside in the sunshine, feel the snow and mud and other textures of Mother Earth under your feet, smell the air deep into your lungs, look around you as if for the first time, and feel anything arising within your body.
  • Take a few deep breaths, look inside and see what you need to feel light, loved and in ease with the flow around you today. Does that mean fully inhabiting your body and tuning in to the five senses?
  • Do you need to try something physical that you’ve never tried before? Perhaps a walk around the neighborhood, a run or playing with the snow or placing your hands on a tree.
  • Let the creative juices flow. Maybe you need to draw, write or paint something into reality. Maybe it’s about closing your eyes and allowing yourself to dream, to vision something you want for your life, letting your imagination go where it wants to without imposing the limitations of the mind and logic and the way things should be.
  • Maybe it’s about letting yourself be silly, light hearted and play like you did when you were a child, possibly letting your inner child feel joy through your grown up self. How about building a snowman, eating a hotdog or blowing bubbles today? What about coloring or creating a scrapbook for yourself? Or even collecting a few leaves or rocks on your next walk with the dog?

What can you do today to let Your Dreamer connect with you today? I invite you to share other ideas you may have about awakening the dreamer within!
