Welcome to November!
Can you believe we are almost at the end of the year? As the days shorten and the temperatures drop outside, let’s give ourselves permission to nurture and slow down as well.
What does slowing down look like?
Is it making more time for rest, trying new things or going for brisk walks in sparkling snow? Maybe it’s spending time baking or sitting by the fire or playing Christmas movies.
It may be a good time to remember that slowing down doesn’t mean you’re slipping backwards. Rest can be a good thing. It means you are honoring your body and showing your heart you are worthy of relaxing when you need to. Pushing yourself past your limits ends up throwing you outside your window of tolerance and potentially burning out.
This is all about balance. For those of us who are stuck in doing, this can be a huge departure. So maybe a pause for ten minutes a day is about all you can handle. And that’s just fine. And for those of us who tend to have a hard time getting started, hours of being rather than doing may get us further from where we’d like to be. Trust your intuition, drop into your heart and listen to what feels needed right now. Sometimes we aren’t sure, but as we create space to listen to our bodies, we get familiar with what we need (which can feel like a black hole for those of us attuned to others’ needs most of the time).
Maybe slowing down is really about decommitting from things that drain you, renegotiating commitments or choosing to adjust your schedule so you spend your time on things you’ve always wanted to try this next month.
When we open the door to trying something new, a world of possibilities opens up to us!!
If the herd was able to share their wisdom with us, what would they say?
Well, Romeo or Grace would probably say something like this…
When was the last time you stopped to smell the air? Or look around your field?
Are you letting yourself graze? Are you spending time moving and pausing?
And are you feeling loved and connected right now? By your Herd or the Divine Flow through us all?
We all talk about time being so limited. Here’s a gentle reminder that you get to decide how you spend your time, at least for a few minutes of the day. Making a sacred commitment to YOU is the invitation for the next month! The Herd is rooting for you!
